HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) – There were 121 new cases of coronavirus reported statewide on Sunday.
There were no new deaths added to the count. The state’s COVID death toll stands at 212.
Of the new cases, one was reported on Kauai. County officials say the positive case was that of an island resident who returned home from the mainland. They say he initially tested negative and received a quarantine exemption prior to flying to Kauai, but voluntarily took a post-travel test. That’s when he got a positive result and was told to isolate.
Other cases reflected in Sunday’s numbers include 51 on Hawaii Island, 49 on Oahu, 16 on Lanai, two on Maui and 2 more out-of-state.
The new cases push the statewide total in Hawaii since the pandemic began to 14,672. Of those, 11,405 have been released from isolation.

- 1,221 total cases
- 840 released from isolation
- 61 required hospitalization

- 59 required hospitalization
- 18 deaths
Kauai
- 61 total cases
- 59 released from isolation
- 1 required hospitalization
- 0 deaths
Out-of-state
- 54 total cases
- 2 required hospitalization
- 1 death
