HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) – Honolulu police are still searching for a suspect who fired shots at a woman in broad daylight on Sunday afternoon.
Police said a man shot at his ex-girlfriend with a shotgun near Sand Island Access Road and Nimitz Highway around 2 p.m.
Ukulele virtuoso Taimane Gardner witnessed it all while riding an Uber.
“I just heard this and then when I looked over, I could not believe my eyes,” she said.
She said some loud sounds caught her attention as her Uber was turning onto Sand Island Access Road near Nimitz Highway.
“He was shooting towards a woman, probably in her 60s,” Gardner said. “She was wearing white, she had a white dog, and she was running across the intersection, and I’ve never seen anything like this in my life.”
The artist — whose latest album has been nominated for three Na Hoku Hanohano Awards this year — said she was stunned.
“He was specifically shooting towards the woman and was just focused on that,” Gardner said. “I mean was worried of course, but he was focused on the target.”
Gardner said the gunman ran away, and she called police to report the crime.
Sources said the woman was not hurt and that the suspect fled in a truck.
An attempted murder investigation is underway.
Anyone with any details is asked to call police.
