Schedule of Oahu lane closures: April 17-24

Highlights of upcoming lane closures on Oahu:

H-1 FREEWAY FROM PEARL CITY TO WAIPAHU  

8 p.m.-9 a.m. Saturday through Sunday: Multiple lane closures in the westbound direction between the Kaonohi Street Overpass and the H-1/H-2 Split for pavement striping and marker installations.

Two right lanes will be closed on Saturday from 8-9 p.m. and a third right lane will be closed from 9 p.m.-9 a.m. on Sunday morning.

KALIHI

Keola Street will be closed beginning Monday as part of the Kuakini Street Extension Project.  The closure will be in effect until work on the Keola Street realignment is completed, which is expected to be February 2016.

During the closure, access to homes on Keola Street will be permitted only through Lanakila Avenue. Access to the back entrance of Maluhia Hospital will be permitted only through Hala Drive. Motorists should observe detour signs to travel around the construction site.

The Kuakini Street Extension Project will realign the intersection at Lanikila Avenue into a four-way intersection for safer use by vehicles and pedestrians.  A new roadway drainage system and concrete sidewalks are also being installed.

— H-1 FREEWAY —

PEARL CITY TO WAIPAHU 

9 p.m.-4:30 a.m. Sunday through Friday, April 24: Right lane closures in the westbound direction between the Kaonohi Street Overpass and the H-1/H-2 Split for striping work.

Two right lanes closed from 9-11 p.m. and three right lanes closed from 11 p.m.-4:30 a.m.

9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Right lane closure in the westbound direction between the Pearl City/Waimalu Off-Ramp (Exit 10) and the H-1/H-2 Split for deck widening.

PEARL CITY 

9 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday, April 24: Left lane closures in the eastbound direction between the H-1/H-2 Merge and the Waiawa Road Overpass for the rail project.

6 p.m.-4 a.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Left lane closures in the eastbound direction at the Aiea Pedestrian Overpass between the Kaamilo Street Overpass and the Aiea/Kaneohe/Honolulu Off-Ramp (Exit 13A) for concrete deck repairs.

Three left lanes will be closed from 6-9 p.m. and four left lanes will be closed from 9 p.m.-4 a.m.

9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday: Three left lanes closed in the eastbound direction at the Aiea Pedestrian Overpass between the Kaamilo Street Overpass and the Aiea/Kaneohe/Honolulu Off-Ramp (Exit 13A) for joint precast panel installations.

9 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning, April 24: Three left lanes closed in the eastbound direction between the H-1/H-2 Merge and the Waiawa Road Overpass for the rail project.

MAKAKILO 

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday: Full closure of the Makakilo On-Ramp to the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Kalaeloa Boulevard Overpass and Kapolei/Ewa Off-Ramp (Exit 3) for road maintenance.

PEARL HARBOR 

8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Right lane closure on the Arizona Memorial/Stadium Off-Ramp (Exit 15A) from the freeway in the westbound direction for the rail project.

8:30 p.m.-4:30 a.m. Wednesday through Thursday morning, and 5 p.m.-1 a.m. Thursday through Friday morning: Full closure of the Hickam AFB/Pearl Harbor Off-Ramp (Exit 15B) from the freeway in the westbound direction for road repaving.

SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 

9 p.m.-12:01 a.m. Friday through Monday morning: Two right lanes closed in the westbound direction between the Keehi Interchange and the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Off-Ramp (Exit 15B) for airport viaduct improvements. All ramps will remain open. Speed limits will be reduced to 15 mph in order to minimize traffic induced vibrations that may lead to cracking in the newly repaired deck.

WAIPAHU 

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Shoulder closure at the Paiwa Street On-Ramp to the freeway in the westbound direction for chain link fence installations.

9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Shoulder closure in the eastbound direction between Kunia/Waipahu/Ewa Off-Ramp (Exit 5) and the H-1/H-2 Merge for chain link installations.

9 p.m.-4:30 a.m. Monday through Friday morning: Full closure of the Waipahu Off-Ramp in the westbound direction for striping work.

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY —

EAST KAPOLEI/EWA

Seven days a week through April 2015 for the rail project

Kualakai Parkway (North-South Road) to Old Fort Weaver Road

That section of the highway is now open in both the eastbound and westbound directions on weekdays between 5 a.m.-7:30 p.m.

That section of the highway will continue to be closed weeknights between 7:30 p.m.-5 a.m. through May as part of rail guideway work.

During the weeknight highway closure, drivers traveling between East Kapolei and the Ewa/Waipahu region will still be able to access either end by using the H-1 Freeway or Kapolei Parkway/Geiger Road. Farrington Highway is open on weekends.

MAKAHA

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday through Friday: Right lane closure in the eastbound direction between Makaha Valley Road and Alawa Place for pole replacements.

NANAKULI

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday: Right lane closure in the westbound direction between Nanakuli Avenue and Piliokahi Avenue for road repairs.

WAIANAE

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday: Left lane closure in both directions between Guard Street and Lualualei Homestead Road for paving.

,p>8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Right lane closure in the southbound direction between Ala Poko Street and Mailiili Road for soil testing.

WAIPAHU

Monday through Friday lane closures for the rail project.

The outside lanes at various locations along Farrington Highway in each direction will be closed weekdays for utility relocation work between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Leoku Street to Leokane Street

The inside lanes of Farrington Highway are closed between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Left turns will be restricted in the westbound direction from Farrington Highway onto Leoole Street.

One of the two eastbound left-turn lanes from Farrington Highway onto Leoku Street is temporarily closed 24/7 because of shaft and column work.

Leokane Street to Pupukahi Street

The westbound lanes of Farrington Highway are closed weeknights between 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Waipahu Depot Road to Mokuola Street

The inside lanes of Farrington Highway are closed weekdays between 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and Saturday, as needed, during those same hours.

Pupupuhi Street to Aniani Place

The outside lanes of Farrington Highway are closed weekdays between 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Paiwa Street to Kahualii Street

The inside lanes of Farrington Highway are closed weekdays between 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

— KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY —

HAWAII KAI

9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Two lanes closed in the westbound direction between Kirkwood Street and West Hind Drive for cold planing and resurfacing as part of the Kalanianaole Highway resurfacing project.

Left turn will be allowed up to West Hind Drive and from West Halemaumau Street onward. Access to West and East Hind Drive will be allowed for westbound traffic only. U-turns to head back eastbound will be allowed at West Halemaumau Street. Police will be stationed throughout the contra-flow section to help direct traffic.

9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Single lane closure in the westbound direction at the West Halemaumau Street and Puuikena Drive intersections for loop detector installations.

KAILUA

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Shoulder closure in the northbound direction between Keolu Drive and Ulupii Street for utility installations.

8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Friday, April 24: Lane closure in the northbound direction between Kanapuu Drive and Keolu Drive for utility pole installations.,/p>

— KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY —

HALAWA 

9 p.m.-5 a.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Full closure on the eastbound H-201 Moanalua Freeway On-Ramp from westbound highway for the rail project.

KAAAWA 

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Lane closure in the southbound direction between Kualoa Regional Park and Johnson Road for drainage installations.

LAIE 

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday through Friday: Lane closure in both directions between Hale Laa Boulevard and Anemoku Street for pole replacements.

MILILANI 

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Roving lane closures in both directions between Ka Uka Boulevard and Kipapa Street for utility and guardrail installations. Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays and use alternate roadways such as Kuahelani Avenue, Meheula Parkway, Lanikuhana Avenue, Ka Uka Boulevard and the H-2 Freeway.

24-hour shoulder lane closure in the southbound direction between Lanikuhana Avenue and Waihau Street now through Friday, Apr. 24, for bus pad installations.

PEARL CITY

24-hour lane closures for the rail project.

Waiawa Road to Acacia Road

One eastbound lane and one of the two eastbound left-turn lanes from Kamehameha Highway onto Acacia Road fronting Pearl Highlands Center are closed 24/7 through Summer 2015 for foundation and column work.

Eastbound U-turns will be allowed at the intersection during the work.

One westbound left-turn lane and the inside westbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near the Acacia Road intersection will also be closed 24/7 through Summer 2015.

Acacia Road to Waimano Home Road

24/7 lane closures are in place along Kamehameha Highway between Acacia Road and Waimano Home Road for foundation and column work through late 2015:

One eastbound left-turn lane from Kamehameha Highway onto Waimano Home Road and the inside eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway will be closed 24 hours a day.

One westbound left-turn lane from Kamehameha Highway onto Lehua Avenue and the inside westbound lane of Kamehameha Highway will also be closed 24 hours a day as part of column foundation work. Westbound U-turns will still be allowed at the Waimano Home Road intersection.

Monday through Friday lane closures for the rail project.

Waiawa Road to Waimano Home Road

One westbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near Acacia Road is closed weeknights between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. with various left-turn pocket restrictions.

One eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway in the same vicinity is also closed weeknights between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The intersection at Acacia Road is closed after 9 p.m.

AIEA/ALOHA STADIUM

Monday through Friday lane closures for the rail project.

Kuleana Road to Kaonohi Street

A section of Kanuku Street mauka of Kamehameha Highway is closed weeknights between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Traffic will be detoured to Hekaha Street and Lokowai Street. Business access to Waimalu Shopping Center and resident access to the area during the road closure times will be maintained by a special duty police officer.

Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are closed weeknights between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. with various left-turn pocket restrictions. Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are also closed overnight between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

Kuleana Road to Kaonohi Street

Alternate lane closures will take place along Kaluamoi Place off Kamehameha Highway between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. weekdays. One lane will remain open at all times.

Utility relocation work in the area is scheduled to run until mid-2015

Lipoa Place to Pali Momi Street

The right eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near the Pearl Kai Shopping Center is closed 24/7 as part of roadway widening work through mid-2015.

Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are closed between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. with various left-turn pocket restrictions. Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

Pali Momi Street to Honomanu Street

Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are closed between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. with various left-turn pocket restrictions. Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

One eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near McGrew Point is closed weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. through mid-2015 for sidewalk work.

Intersection at Honomanu Street closed after 9 p.m.

Near Aloha Stadium

Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are closed weeknights between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. with various left-turn pocket restrictions. Westbound traffic along Kamehameha Highway near Salt Lake Boulevard will be contraflowed to the eastbound lanes during those days and times.

Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The westbound Moanalua Freeway on-ramp near Aloha Stadium will be closed from 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. weeknights.

PEARL HARBOR/AIRPORT

Monday through Friday lane closures for the rail project.

Kamehameha Highway from Arizona Street to Makalapa Road

Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are closed weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. for utility work.

Motorists should be aware that driving lanes may be shifted during the work.

Kamehameha Highway and Makalapa Road/Radford Drive Intersection

The right-turn lane from Kamehameha Highway onto Radford Drive is closed weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for utility work. Right turns will still be permitted at the intersection.

Kamehameha Highway from Makalapa Road to Center Drive

Two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway are closed weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for utility work.

The left-turn lane into Makalapa Gate will be contraflowed along the highway median.

Kamehameha Highway and Center Drive Intersection

The right-turn lane from Center Drive (mauka) onto Kamehameha Highway is closed weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for utility work.

The westbound bus stop at Kamehameha Highway and Center Drive is temporarily closed on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for utility work.

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 24: Lane closures in both directions at the Lumiana Street intersection for road reconstruction.
