Athletes often cite the most important part of sports as the off the field bonds built with their friends and teammates.
Over at Farrington High School, the Governors have elected to take that feeling an extra step further.
Various student athletes are donating their time and energy every week to be a part of the “Friends” program at the school.
The program is designed to promote inclusion for special needs students, as well as develop social life skills.
Every Tuesday and Thursday, “Friends” meets for lunch on campus. They even go on field trips, including a recent jaunt out to Aiea Bowl.
Senior football stars Bryce Tatupu-Leopoldo and Breiden Fehoko say their new buddies aren’t the only ones who benefit from the experience.
