The state public charter school commission held a schools fair on Wednesday at Farrington High School to help Halau Lokahi families find new schools to send their kids to.
The problem is very few parents even bothered showing up.
“There is some sentiment among some of the parents to fight and not look at other options now and we’ve been really urging them to look out for what’s best in their child’s interest because the process of revoking a charter in our system never envisioned a system where the charter was out of money,” State Public Charter School Executive Director Tom Hutton said.
Halau Lokahi has the option to challenge the vote to close the school.
On Wednesday, the commission also announced it’ll release enough funds to pay Halau Lokahi teachers and staff through the end of this month.
