Upcoming lane closures include H-1 ramps at Vineyard-Punchbowl intersection on Sunday

The state Department of Transportation (DOT) is advising motorists of closing of the H-1 Freeway on-Ramp and off-Ramp to and from the Vineyard Boulevard-Punchbowl Street intersection from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday for pavement resurfacing.

Alternate route advisories are:

Full closure of H-1 Freeway westbound Vineyard Boulevard off-ramp (Exit 22)
Westbound motorists wishing to access the downtown Honolulu area are advised to take the previous Lunalilo Street off-ramp (Exit 23) to Pensacola Street and Beretania Street or Ala Moana Boulevard as alternate routes.

Full closure of H-1 Freeway eastbound Punchbowl Street off-ramp (Exit 21B)
Eastbound motorists wishing to access the downtown Honolulu area are advised to take the previous Pali Highway off-ramp (Exit 21A) or Vineyard Boulevard off-ramp (Exit 20B) as an alternate route.

Full closure of the Pali Highway on-ramp to the H-1 Freeway eastbound and Punchbowl Street
Pali Highway motorists wishing to access the freeway eastbound are advised to stay on Pali Highway to Vineyard Boulevard and to use the H-1 Freeway Vineyard Boulevard on-ramp.

Full closure of Punchbowl Street on the mauka side of Vineyard Boulevard in both directions, including the on-ramp to the H-1 Freeway westbound
Motorists wishing to access H-1 westbound are advised to take Vineyard Boulevard to the Halona Street on-ramp. Local traffic only heading to the housing area northeast of the Punchbowl Street and Vineyard Boulevard intersection will be allowed access through the above intersection from Punchbowl Street only. No left turns will be allowed onto Punchbowl Street from Vineyard Boulevard.

Electronic message boards will be stationed on the H-1 Freeway and Vineyard Boulevard to warn motorists of upcoming closures. Special duty police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic and ramp closures.

Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays, plan ahead and drive safely through the work zone area. Roadwork is weather permitting.


Here are the remainder of scheduled Oahu lane closures:

— H-1 FREEWAY —

SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 
9 p.m. Friday through 12:01 a.m. Monday: Two right lanes closed in the westbound direction between the Keehi Interchange and the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam off-ramp (Exit 15B). All ramps will remain open.

PEARL CITY TO WAIPAHU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
11 p.m. Saturday through 4:30 a.m. Monday: Two- to three-lane closures in the westbound direction between the Pearl City/Waimalu off-ramp (Exit 10) and the Waipahu off-ramp (Exit 8B) for deck widening and concrete pours.

KAPOLEI 
9 p.m.-4:30 a.m. Sunday through Friday, Jan. 16: Full closure of Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor off-ramp (Exit 1) from the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction for pavement marking installations.

9 p.m.-4:30 a.m. Sunday through Friday, Jan. 16: Full closure of Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor off-ramp (Exit 1A) from the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction for pavement marking installations.

9 p.m.-4:30 a.m. Sunday through Friday, Jan. 16: Right lane closure in both directions between Farrington Highway and the Makakilo Drive overpass for pavement marking installations.

— H-2 FREEWAY —

WAIPIO 
8 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning, Jan. 16: Lane closures in the Honolulu-bound direction between the Ka Uka Boulevard off-ramp (Exit 2) and the Waiawa Road overpass for the Honolulu rail project..

WAHIAWA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
8 p.m.-5 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning, Jan. 16: Lane closures in both directions between Wilikina Drive and the Wahiawa off-ramp (Exit 8) for bridge joint repair work.

— KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY —

MILILANI 
8:30 p.m.-4:30 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning, Jan. 16: Full road closure in both directions between Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue for road reconstruction, resurfacing and installation of striping and markers.

General traffic will be re-routed to the H-2 Freeway but local traffic access for Kipapa Gulch residents has been coordinated to be escorted through the project site as needed. Advisory message boards have been placed near Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue with the work schedule.

— NIMITZ HIGHWAY —

SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 
9 p.m. Friday through 12:01 a.m. Monday: Two right lanes in the westbound direction between Rodgers Boulevard and Valkenburgh Street as a safety precaution due to deck repairs happening above.
