On Tuesday, the hospital hosted a grand opening of the new mauka lobby featuring a new physician’s clinic with four exam rooms and a procedure room.
There is also a new front desk, information center and patient financial counseling area.
Wheelchair users will get to take advantage of a new therapeutic garden and mobility course featured on the Diamond Head side of the building.
“It allows us to provide a real world safe environment where patients can learn how to use their wheelchair or how to walk in challenging conditions,” said Timothy Roe, President and CEO of REHAB Hospital.
More renovations are still to come, including the central lobby, physician’s lounge, conference center and expanded gift shop. Administrative areas will also be modernized.
Hospital work is expected to be complete next summer.
