The Department of Public Safety will be tenting a module in the Oahu Community Correctional Center in an effort to eradicate a bedbug infestation.
The tenting of Module 20 is expected to begin around 7:30 a.m. Thursday and be completed on Saturday. Inmates will be relocated to other parts of the facility and will move back into their cells later in the day Saturday when the module is properly aired out.
Module 20 houses up to 120 work furlough inmates when at capacity.
Steps have been taken over the past month to kill the bugs including using heat, sprays, replacing mattresses and bedding, creating sanitation protocols and enforcing hygiene maintenance.
