Victim identified in fatal Kalihi pedestrian collision Medical Examiner: 70-year-old Barabara Kato of Honolulu killed Thursday morning

HONOLULU —The Honolulu Medical Examiner has identified the victim of a fatal pedestrian collision Thursday as 70-year-old Barbara Kato of Honolulu.

The collision occurred just before 6 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of King Street and Gulick Avenue in Kalihi.

Kato’s clothes, walking cane and knapsack were scattered across the crosswalk after she was hit by a garbage truck.

Police say the driver of the City & County garbage truck, a 57-year-old woman, was making a left turn when she hit Kato.
