Honolulu police have opened a negligent-homicide case in connection with a deadly early-morningpedestrian accident.

It happened on King Street near the crosswalk at Factory Street.

HPD Lt. Bobby Towne says a 67-year-old woman was in the crosswalk when she was hit at about 6 a.m. by a truck.

She was taken by ambulance to the Queen’s Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

HPD closed both directions of King Street at about 6:15 a.m. between Mokauea Street and Gulick Avenue.

A man in his 40s was the driver of the truck. Police say he is cooperating in the investigation.

Lt. Towne says speed or alcohol do not appear to be factors, but he says weather could have played a factor. It was dark and raining at the time of the incident.

All lanes of King Street were reopened by about 7:45 a.m.

This is the 10th traffic fatality on Oahu roads so far this year, compared to 11 at this time last year.
