Amateur shutterbugs can learn to get the most out of their digital camera with a new class available at MWR’s Hickam Arts & Crafts Center. Basic digital photography is an introductory course covering various techniques and helping students understand the terminology and concepts of photography.
Instructor Ron Steiner, who has a degree in fine-art photography, aims to teach students not to rely on the “smart” or “auto” setting and graduate beyond simple point-and-shoot.
“My part in this collaboration is to demystify digital photography and make you smarter. At the end of the day, when you leave this class I want you to have the confidence to pick up your camera and take better photographs,” Steiner said.
Basic digital photography meets once a week for four weeks. The next classes start at 6 p.m. Feb. 4 and 9 a.m. Feb. 5. The cost is $60 per person plus cost of supplies. For more information, call 448-9907.
